In order to give another perspective on individual style and as a new initiative on my blog, I introduce ‘The Wardrobe‘. Here I will have a look into different peoples wardrobes and interview them about fashion, style and ask them some personal questions. I hope you will enjoy it!

At the end of September I went to Brussels to visit my good friend Emilie Martinsen for a couple of days before she left to USA. There I took a look into her amazing wardrobe and walk-in-closet. She has a wardrobe which many girls can only dream of!

Emilie is 28 years old and is a professional horseback rider. In 2010 she won the Danish championship in show jumping and has since then enjoyed more and more success. She travels around the world with her horses, participating in the best and most prestigious competitions in the world. This year she joined the Global Champions Tour, which consists of 13 competitions in different countries such as China, France, Qatar and Portugal. I visited Emilie for a couple of days in Cannes this summer and got a small glimpse of the size of the competitions and the professionalism characterizing these athletes. I was very impressed! Emilie is dedicated, works immensely hard, and as her friend, I am really proud of her.

During the summer she is staying in Brussels where she has lived for a couple of years in the most charming townhouse. During the European winter season she moves to Wellington in Florida to participate in American competitions.

Emilie has always, since I first meet her at the age of 12, had a good sense for fashion. She has grown up in the industry, as her father, Niels Martinsen, started InWear back in 1969, which today is one of the brands behind the successful business, IC Companys.

– How do you define personal style? “I do not really know, but I think it is very important to wear what you like and feel comfortable in and not only what the magazines tells you to wear.”

–  What is your favorite place to go shopping? “That would be www.net-a-porter.com and Companys Originals in Copenhagen!”

– Which are your favorite brands? “At the moment, By Malene Birger, Designers Remix, IRO and Isabel Marant.”

– What would you never consider wearing? “There is a lot of things I would never consider wearing, but I would never wear copy things. I do not want to support that.”

– How do you define your own style? “I think my style is very mixed, I just don’t like when things get to cute or serious. I like it more fun, diffrent and cool.”

– What is your ‘must have’ this AW 2012? “I love my Isabel Marant sneakers, beacuse they are cool, nice to walk in and because they make me 5 cm taler.”

– Who do you think has good style? “Victoria Beckham!”

– Which hair and makeup products do you mostly use? “I use Moroccanoil for my hair and ProActive for my face, since I have bad skin and it really helps my breakouts. After showering I use La Mer.”

– Where do you see yourself five years from now? “I could not wish for more than I have now. I live in sunny and warm Palm Beach in the winter and Europe in the summer. I get to ride my horses everyday, all over the world – for me that is living my dream! And maybe I have an amazing boyfriend!”

– What was your proudest career moment in 2012? “Doing very well at the Global Champion Tour in Estoril, Portugal this summer, because my hole family was there watching me.”

– What is your biggest career goal and how do you plan to fulfill them? “I want to participate in the Olympics and of course do well. That would be a big thing for me.”

– What did it mean for you to win the Danish Championship in 2010? “It ment a lot to me because I think I proved to my self and others, that I am really good at what I do!”
